PROFESSIONALISM AND DEVOTION TO THEIR WORK ARE

TYPICAL FEATURES OF BENEFACTORS OF "KVINT"

Tiraspol cognacs have gained recognition far abroad Moldova as far as during Soviet times. First brand cognacs "Doyna" and "Nistru" conquered tasters as far as in late 50s. Later on, there were created cognacs "Surprizny", "Yubileyny", "Solnechny", "Victoria", "Tiras", "Belyi Aist", "KVINT", "Suvorov", and "Tiraspol". Fans of these noble drinks can be met throughout the world.

Art of creation of cognacs as nothing else culls its living force in traditions. And Tiraspol wines-and-cognac plant is really rich with traditions. It was founded in 1897. And yesterday it reached the age of 105.

For many years, Tiraspol masters have been accumulating secrets and perfecting abilities, for production Tiraspol wines-and-cognac plant has been giving joy and health to all who really appreciates and loves the commodities of "KVINT". That's why the "KVINT" plant has particular attitude towards those who has been working at this enterprise for many years. On September 4th 2002, at the plant there took place the solemn meeting of veterans, who had been working at "KVINT" for many years, with collective of the plant. The meeting was timed to celebration of the 105th anniversary of the plant's creation.

Honorable guests attended the meeting: the DMR President Igor Smirnov, the Minister of agriculture Boris Brizitski, the honorable president of the International Intergovernmental Organization of Wine and Grapes, the professor Nikolay Pavlenko, the head of state administration of Tiraspol Victor Kostyrko, the Chairman of city People's deputies Council Victor Ivanchenkov, delegations from the RF, Ukraine (Crimea), and Germany.

As the DMR President Igor Smirnov remarked, "Despite all difficulties and obstacles, which the RM authority artificially creates, the plant preserved the major grounds, on which the welfare not only of the enterprise but also of the state: it is the highly professional collective able to provide production of qualitative goods, it is care about children, veterans, and fellow-workers".

Social direction of reforms is the typical feature of the Dniestrian economy. Due to that, working collectives managed to survive under complicated circumstances, connected with break-up of traditional economic contacts, in condition of economic blockades and 'intrigues' from Moldavian governors. Having failed to suffocate and ravage our plants and factories, the Communists who had come to power decided to take them forcedly from Dniestrians. As Igor Smirnov remarked, “The major objective of Mr. Voronin is to seize our property. The Moldavian president frankly declares that Moldova will not survive without industrial potentials of the DMR.

Reaction of the audience for that was predictable: benefactors of "KVINT" did not need others' property; and they intended to enforce and develop their own. And in that sense, potentials of "KVINT" specialists are huge.

As Igor Smirnov remarked, "under new market conditions, only those enterprises will survive, if they connect all stages of the production process: production of raw materials, its processing, itself production of commodities, and its sale. "KVINT" refers namely to such enterprises.

The DMR President emphasized, "but the main thing is the human factor within process of production. Professionalism and devotion to their work are the main traditions, which have formed and is strictly respected at the plant".

For many years, at "KVINT" there has been working the chief cognac master Serghey Chernetsky. He is the co-author of most cognacs' recipes, produced by the plant nowadays. Igor Smirnov expressed his wish, for the next cognac was named "Chernetsky".

As the general director of Tiraspol wines-and-cognac plant, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences Oleg Bayev remarked, "history of the plant is closely connected with chronicles of our republic. The DMR President, Supreme Council, administrations of towns and districts pay much attention to our enterprise, and make assistance and support. Despite the economic blockade and instability of markets, economic indicators of the plant really impress: for 5 years, the average number of benefactors has increased for 100 people due to enlargement of production, the salary has risen for 30%, and today the average salary of the benefactor is $80, annual production per capita (of a benefactor) is over $30 thousand. Production is permanently rising, and already comprises about 600 decaliters per year. Sales markets have been considerably enlarged. Besides the RF and Ukraine, production of the plant is being exported to Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Baltic States, Israel, and the USA. 60% of production is exported. The enterprise annually transfers $3.8 million to the DMR budget. Sources of raw materials of "KVINT" have been developing for 7 years. In 1995, Tiraspol wines-and-cognac plant had just an experimental piece of land for growing grapes with an area of 17ha. Today there is a piece of 200 ha. And we plan to put into action one more piece of 800 ha within next 5 years".

Oleg Bayev emphasized that priority direction of work of the enterprise's authority is care about people who work here. At the enterprise, there is a modernly equipped prophylactic and diagnostic center, where the benefactors receive free medical assistance; free nourishment is organized. Music and dance band "KVINT" is created and successfully performs; a homonym sports club is acting where both grown-ups and youngsters practice sport. Oleg Bayev underlined, "But veterans are our major pride". He wished strong health to them and assured, "the collective will keep traditions of the plant, and will always be near veterans".

At the solemn meeting with veterans of "KVINT", the whole collective of the plant was awarded "The Badge of Honor" for great impact to development of the plant and because of its 105th anniversary. A number of benefactors were also awarded the badges "Labor Glory", "Badge of Honor", the medal "For Labor Valor", with deeds and grating letters of the President. The head of the state cordially celebrated veterans, authority of "KVINT", and the whole collective with the 105th anniversary of the plant's foundation, and wished, "let the brand of "KVINT" proudly sound throughout the world many decades later". On behalf of the plant's authority, benefactors and veterans of the plant were handed money prizes and valuable gifts.

The German company "Eilenburg" director Hans Kräger remarked, "4 years ago I came to Tiraspol for the first time. In the DMR I got acquainted with people who are really able to work and enjoy doing it. For 4 years, both the republic and plant have undergone transformations, which really impress. The plant's production by its quality can be compared only with the best samples of the world market". He wished success to the plant's benefactor and to whole Dniestria.

The honorable president of the International Intergovernmental Organization of Wine and Grapes Nikolay Pavlenko also joined celebrations addressed to the plant. He underlined that the enterprise's director Oleg Bayev was combining "a great leader and scientist" in his personality. Also thanks to him the enterprise has achieved good results. The work at the enterprise is based on "keeping of the best traditions, and at the same time all innovation methods are being applied in production of wines and cognacs". Nikolay Pavlenko wished, "let all political tempests rush past vineyards".

Meeting of veterans with the collective of Tiraspol wines-and-cognac plant finished with a festive concert, and today there took place presentation of the book of Oleg Bayev "A Century under the Wing of White Stork", and the second International Tasting contest of cognacs started its work, where delegations from Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, France, and Germany had arrived.
