THE DMR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS ARE READY TO RECEIVE PUPILS

The DMR deputy minister of education Valentina Gello remarked in interview to the correspondent of the press agency, "The last academic year was the most outstanding in the DMR history. Today I can say for sure that the Dniestrian system of education has succeeded and defined its way".

By her words, new standards of the Dniestrian general education are introduced on the basis of state educational standards of the Russian Federation. Over the half of didactic fund of school libraries is renewed that let pass to work on new programs. At the same time, the basic academic high school plan worked out by the ministry of education takes into consideration the regional component, supposed for lessons of history, geography, and other objects.

Due to close contacts with the Russian publishing house "Prosveshchenie" ('Education' - note of the translator), new generation manuals from the Russian Federation are regularly being purchased by account of means received from the Presidential Fund, republican budget, and from rent of manuals. One may be sure that in few years, the problem of providing educational institutions with new manuals will be resolved.

As for provision of Moldavian schools, Valentina Gello remarked that this year we could say for about breakthrough in their provision of manuals for them. By her words, for years of enforcement of our republic, there had appeared creative collectives for elaboration of manuals of the Moldavian language and literature, and for translation of manuals from Russian into Moldavian.

By the new academic year, the Moldavian school will have been fully provided with manuals of six types. Manuals of the Moldavian language for Russian schools for the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th forms are prepared. By the end of the academic year, due to support of the President of republic and the ministry of education, it is planned to publish 11 more types of manuals (among which as many as eight are for Moldavian schools) in the Moldavian language.

In the DMR system of people’s education, particular attention is drawn to quality of education. Year by year, the number of medallists in the towns and districts of the republic grows. All pretenders for medals confirm high level of training. Undoubtedly, annual participation of senior pupils in municipal and republican Olympiads is a good indicator of the educational quality. This year, privileges in admitting winners of republican Olympiads to professional educational institutions are provided.

This year, the ministry of education for the first time recommends and suggests the schools of republic to take five on-choice basic academic plans allowing to introduce profile education in 10th-11th forms: physico-mathematical, philological, and others. But at the same time, by words of the deputy minister, there is no need of exceeded hurry in that work. The professional education should be introduced with account of material basis, personnel potential, consideration of the region’s needs and pupils’ interests.

In accordance with the law “On languages”, the Concept of learning three state languages of the Dniester Moldavian Republic is developed. For its realization in educational institutions of the republic, all conditions for didactico-methodical and program equipment, as well as personnel potential, are provided.

According to the basic plan, developed by the ministry of education, pupils of Russian schools will learn the Ukrainian or Moldavian language by choice, of Moldavian schools – the Ukrainian or Russian, and of Ukrainian ones – the Moldavian or Russian.

Programs of education in the Ukrainian and Moldavian languages are being successfully realized. Because of that, Valentina Gello marked the Ukrainian school in the town of Rybnitsa, which possesses good materials and personnel provision. The school administration maintains close contacts with educational institutions of Vinnitsa and Kiev; the question of raising qualification of Rybnitsa professors in the Ukraine is being positively resolved.

By words of the deputy minister, the Ukrainian theoretical lyceum of Tiraspol has proved itself to be good. Close and fruitful contacts arranged by authority of the lyceum with institutions of professional education from Odessa let all its graduates enter the higher education institutions of the Ukraine.

About 4 thousand pupils of Tiraspol, Bendery, Dubossary, and Rybnitsa study in non-state Moldavian schools with usage of the Latin alphabet. Activity of these non-state educational institutions is being accomplished within frames of the DMR Constitution and the law “On education”.

Commenting on situation with the Moldavian high school #1 in Grigoriopol, Valentina Gello remarked that this school was transformed into the Moldavian theoretical lyceum. For few years, pedagogues of that educational institution had been spreading farfetched information that an alternative Romanian school was working on its basis. By words of the deputy minister, “pedagogues of that school, besides the wage given from the DMR budget, were receiving one more wage from Moldova for subversive activity and propaganda of the Romanian language”. Nowadays, the parents who want their children to study on the Latin alphabet are offered to “realize idea of opening a Romanian school in Grigoriopol within legal space of the Dniester Moldavian Republic”.

Concerning the issue of preparing educational institutions of the republic for the new academic year, Valentina Gello remarked that the schools were fully ready to admit pupils. The problem of giving money for heavy repair of schools was resolved by joint efforts of parents, and towns’ and districts administrations. Economic agents and enterprises of the republic have rendered immeasurable assistance. That problem was resolved very correctly in Bendery, where enterprises of the town had been fixed (as assistants – note of the translator) to each educational institution. That’s why preparation for the new academic year in that town had finished much earlier than in other living areas of the republic.

On September 1st, about 88 thousand pupils will come to schools of different forms of property, including 6 300 pupils, - to the 1st form. By words of Valentina Gello, because of bad demographic situation in the republic, the number of pupils has increased for 4 thousand in comparison.

On the eve of the new academic year, Valentina Gello addressed gratitude to the huge pedagogic body of Dniestria for wise and flexible position in resolution of problems of education and development of their pupils.
