CITIES and DISTRICT CENTRES of PRIDNESTROVYE

This city, second-largest in a TMR, is arranged on the right bank of Dniestr river. Here lives about 130 000 men. A national composition speckled - Russian, Moldavians, Ukrainians etc.

The first settlements in place of this city have arisen approximately in II century B.C. It is the most ancient city of Moldova. From XIV century here lay

The Genoa stability, which one then has departed to Moldova. In 1538 it was grasped by Turkish, which one have changed the initial slavic title of city, having renamed Tigina in Bendery.Bendery - largest defensive site in Pridnestrovye. Russian troops took the Bendery stability 4 times - in 1770, 1789, 1806 and 1812. In 1818 the Bendery have received the status of city.

During Great Domestic war the city was strongly destroyed and built up in the 50-ies. Two large microdistricts are built in the 80-ies.

Center of city mainly constitute buildings of the end XIX - beginning XX century, on

cityside the modern multi-storey complexes are arranged. In city it is a lot of historical and architectural monuments.

In Bendery the industrial orb is advanced. Largest firms: a dockside, factory of electroinstrumentation, “Moldavcabel”, electroporcelain and silk plants, shoe factory “Tigina”, production association “Floare”.

Bendery - the large railway junction, here is perspective development of the river fleet. Since 1993 the city paired to Tiraspol by a trolleybus line, building internal circuits started. During battle operations of 1992, the Bendery have exposed to big destroyings, 80 thousand inhabitants became the refugees, about 1,5 thousand was killed and is wounded. Now main part of destroyings is eliminated, but tracks from battles still resemble of itself. The matrix material of the inhabitants maintains the entering of city in a composition of TMR, that is both invariable position and government of the republic.

Kamenka

Rybnitsa

The maiden mentions about Rybnitsa are contained in documents of 1657. This settlement went into a composition Polish Kingdom. In 1793 Rybnitsa began to belong to Russia.

The city is arranged on the left coast of Dniestr river and is carved out from the river by concrete pier. Near of citiy the large water storage basin is found. Rybnitsa has the expedient transportly-geographic position. In neighborhoods are significant mineral resources (raw for execution of building materials).

Rybnitsa - large industrial and industrial centre. Here is arranged oldest in Moldova a sugar factory founded in 1898, spirit - factory, metallurgical and cement-slate centres, factory of centrifugal pumps. After building water storage basin and inundation of the bottom of city the central part is re-planned, and now looks like modern residential district, in which one the multi-storey buildings dominate. In city the quay and railway server acts. Near water storage basin from 1955 the zone of rest is arranged. In city and its neighborhoods there are a lot of historical and architectural monuments.

Main part of the inhabitants - Ukrainians, Russian, Moldavians. In city 12 schools, 2 TECHNICAL COLLEGES. The majority of the inhabitants are held on firms of republican values.

Dubossary

The maiden mentions about Dubossary refer by the begining XVIII of century. In the composition of Russia a settlement has come in 1791, in 1795 has received the status of city. Dubossary are arranged on the left abrupt coast of Dniestr river. Greater part the city is one-storeyed, strongly prolated alongshore. Here lives about 60 000 men. A national composition - exemplary equality of the Ukrainians, Russian and Moldavians.

Dubossary - industrial centre. In 1955 here was built HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION by power 48 Gvt and water storage basin. In city are found a mechanical factory, sewing factory, ferro-concrete factory, ferment- tobacco centre, wine centre “ a Bouquet of Moldova “. In neighborhoods Dubossary the mines on a mining of limestone act. In city 5 schools, 2 TECHNICAL COLLEGES are worked. In the Soviet time of neighborhood of city exhibited a developed zone of rest of republican value. The considerable damage to economics of city was marked in a period of war of 1992. The considerable number of the inhabitan has perished, hundreds houses were destroyed. Central position of city in the strategic defensive concept of government of TMR is stipulated by its median position in republic. For this reason the troops of Republic Moldova triply attempted to capture a settlement. Despite of bravery and heroism of the population in strife against the aggressors the separate villages of Dubossary’s region have appeared under a control of government of Moldova also are a constant source of conservation of strength in neighborhoods of city and in the relations between a RM and TMR as a whole.

Grigoriopol

Grigoriopol was founded in 1792 in apron plain Black river as the Armenian colony.

Today it is a settlement of a urban type, district centre. In Grigoriopol dominate of one-storeyed construction, the Central part consists mainly from three -four- storeyed buildings. In a settlement the cannery plant acts, careers on a mining of grit. In Grigoriopol lives about 20 000 men. A main part of the population - Moldavians and Ukrainians. The majority of the inhabitants are held in an agriculture. In city 5 schools, 2 TECHNICAL COLLEGES are founded.

Slobodzeya

Slobodzeya - large settlement in a southeast of Pridnestrovye, district centre. The population - about 20 000 men, majority from which are Moldavians. The large firms are not present. The main part of able-bodied population is held in an agriculture. 3 schools are worked. The status of a settlement of a urban type is assigned in 1972. A majority of housing fund - private homes, the centre is occupied by multi-storey buildings. In region of the Dniestr river the zone of rest is equipped, the park is acts.
